Francisco Arnoldo Gfell Henríquez died that day at 15:30 hours, at the Posta Central, due to a thoracic-abdominal gunshot wound, as certified by the Medical Death Certificate from the Legal Medical Institute.
According to witness statements, Gfell Henríquez was with other people at the intersection of Calle Ñuble and Calle San Francisco in the commune of Santiago, observing how Carabineros were evicting a neighboring industrial facility.
The uniformed officers were firing at the workers who were attempting to flee across the rooftops and through the surrounding streets. One of those bullets struck Francisco Gfell in the thorax. After being transported to the Posta Central, he passed away a few hours later.
By virtue of the evidence gathered and the investigation conducted by this Corporation, and considering the cause of his death and the period in which it occurred, the Superior Council declared Francisco Arnoldo Gfell Henríquez a victim of the prevailing political violence.
