Both died that day at 5:30 hours, at Pedro de Valdivia and Camino Agrícola, due to cranial and thoracic-abdominal gunshot wounds, as recorded in the respective Medical Death Certificates from the Legal Medical Institute.
According to testimonies from family members, Fernando Faúndez and Pedro Marín were detained on the morning of October 7, along with Jorge Pérez Ubeda, in the La Legua neighborhood, by Carabineros officers who were conducting a raid in the area. The three detainees appeared dead under identical circumstances, and their remains were identified at the Legal Medical Institute by their relatives.
Jorge Pérez Ubeda was classified as a victim of human rights violations by the National Commission for Truth and Reconciliation.
Considering the evidence gathered and the investigation conducted by this Corporation, the Superior Council reached the conviction that Fernando Omar Faúndez Muñoz and Pedro Vicente Marín Mejías were executed by State agents while they were in detention and outside of any legal process, a situation constituting a human rights violation.
