On April 2, 1987, a land occupation took place in the commune of Conchalí, during which Erik Patricio JUICA CORTES, a 26-year-old newspaper vendor, was killed.
On the afternoon of that day, military personnel arrived in trucks and proceeded to evict the site, firing their service weapons. Based on various testimonies and evidence, this Commission presumes that, notwithstanding the legitimacy of the eviction of an illegal occupation, disproportionate forms of force were in fact used, gravely violating the human rights of the victim.
