Eloy Emilio Nuñez González, a militant of the Partido Socialista, died that day at 6:00 hours on a public thoroughfare due to a complicated thoracic-abdominal gunshot wound, as recorded in the Medical Death Certificate from the Legal Medical Institute.
According to statements from family members, Eloy Nuñez worked as a doorman at the Clínica Alemana and was a leader of a Supply and Price Board (JAP) in the eastern sector of Santiago. Following September 11, 1973, he was intensely sought after, which forced him to leave his marital home.
On September 17, 1973, he was arrested along with his brother at the latter's home by carabineros belonging to what was then the Fourteenth Precinct, currently the Nineteenth Precinct of Providencia. Both were taken to the Estadio Nacional, but before arriving, his brother was released.
Days later, and after his detention was denied at said facility, family members found his body at the Legal Medical Institute.
Considering the evidence gathered and the investigation conducted, the Superior Council reached the conviction that, while in detention, Eloy Emilio Nuñez González was executed by State agents outside of any legal process. Therefore, it declared him a victim of human rights violations.
