Eduardo Osmo Mundaca Contreras died that day at 7:50 hours, at the Barros Luco Hospital, due to penetrating gunshot wounds to the face and neck with no exit wound and acute anemia, as recorded in the Medical Death Certificate from the Legal Medical Institute.

According to statements by eyewitnesses and family members, on September 11, 1973, Eduardo Mundaca left early for his job at a factory, but due to the events that unfolded that day, he was unable to return home.

The same happened to most of the workers, who decided to spend the night at the workplace. The following day, the factory was raided by military personnel, who, once the search and background check were completed, offered to take the workers to their respective homes. About 30 people accepted the offer and boarded a company truck; two conscripts were stationed in the truck's cabs.

En route, as the truck entered the San Joaquín neighborhood, it was attacked by unknown individuals positioned in the apartment buildings. A shootout ensued, as shots were also fired from the Carabineros station in the sector located near where the truck had stopped.

Under these circumstances, Eduardo Mundaca was struck by several projectiles. Transferred to the Barros Luco Hospital, he passed away the following day.

Considering the evidence gathered by this Corporation, the Superior Council, taking into account the time, the hour, and the cause of death, declared Eduardo Osmo Mundaca Contreras a victim of the prevailing political violence.
