According to eyewitnesses, the three victims were detained on September 23, 1973, at their respective homes located in the Nueva Matucana neighborhood, by members of the Ejército and Carabineros who carried out an operation in the sector.
On that occasion, all the men were lined up along the side of the railway tracks, and approximately 15 residents, including the victims, were selected from the group and taken to an unknown destination. The following day, their bodies were found at the Bulnes bridge.
Based on the evidence gathered and the investigation conducted by this Corporation, the Superior Council reached the conviction that Alvaro Javier Acuña Torres, Guillermo Arriagada Saldías, and Domingo Gutiérrez Aravena were detained and executed by State agents outside of any legal process.
