Domingo Elías Santos Muñoz died that day at 15:30 hours, at his home on Calle Mac Clure, due to a thoracic gunshot wound with cardiac impact, as certified by the Medical Death Certificate issued by the Legal Medical Institute.

Witnesses stated that Santos Muñoz was in his apartment together with other people. Upon hearing shots, he and his daughter went out onto the balcony. Under those circumstances, a projectile struck him in the thorax, causing his instantaneous death. After help was requested, a military patrol arrived at the scene and collected the bullets that were scattered in the living room.

Considering the background information gathered and the investigation carried out by this Corporation, the Superior Council, taking into account the circumstances, the period, and the cause of death, declared Domingo Elías Santos Muñoz a victim of the prevailing political violence.
