On July 12, 1983, the Third National Day of Protest took place. Two people died in that context.
María Isabel SANHUEZA ORTIZ, 19 years old, worked in domestic service. At night, anti-government demonstrations were held near Villa Bernardo O’Higgins (Santiago). In that context, she was struck by a bullet of undetermined origin.
She died due to cervical trauma caused by a gunshot. The evidence analyzed indicates that numerous shots were heard in the area, but it does not allow for the precise origin of those that caused her death to be determined.
The Commission, given the described context, formed the conviction that María Isabel Sanhueza fell victim to the political violence existing during that period.
