GUAJARDO CASTRO, JUAN DEL CARMEN: 21 years old, single, victim of political execution on September 12, 1973 in Santiago.
PONCE LAZCANO, ARMANDO ENRIQUE: 23 years old, single, worker, victim of political execution on September 12, 1973 in Santiago.
Juan del Carmen Guajardo Castro and Armando Enrique Ponce Lazcano died that day at 6:00 and 3:00 hours, respectively, due to cranial and thoracic gunshot wounds with exit projectiles, as recorded in the respective Medical Death Certificates from the Legal Medical Institute.
According to accounts from eyewitnesses, both were detained that day at the home of Armando Ponce, located in the La Legua neighborhood, by members of Carabineros. After violently breaking into the property, the police officers shot them. Family members who were inside the home were eyewitnesses to the event.
Because the carabineros used this home as an operations center in the sector while conducting raids, the bodies could only be transported to the emergency center of the Barros Luco Hospital several hours later, where their deaths were confirmed.
Considering the evidence gathered and the investigation conducted by this Corporation, the Superior Council reached the conviction that Juan del Carmen Guajardo Castro and Armando Enrique Ponce Lazcano were executed by State agents outside of any legal process. For this reason, it declared them victims of human rights violations.
