Ana Jeanette González Moena and her friend Fernando Enrique Guevara Mardones died that day, in the town of Rengo, due to cerebral explosion caused by a facial gunshot wound, as recorded in the respective Medical Death Certificates from the Legal Medical Institute.

Their lifeless bodies were found on the morning of October 2, inside Fernando Guevara's car, at the Pan-American Highway South junction with the Rengo crossing.

Although the judicial process initiated concluded with a temporary dismissal, the Superior Council—based on confidential information provided to it—reached the conviction that the shots that caused the deaths of both were fired by a Carabineros officer, who acted out of jealousy regarding Fernando Enrique Guevara Mardones.

The young woman's death was to prevent her from reporting him. The officer acted with the protection of other members of the institution.

Considering the evidence gathered, the Superior Council deemed that the death of Ana Jeanette González Moena and Fernando Enrique Guevara Mardones was the result of an abuse of power committed by a State agent who acted for personal motives, outside the scope of his duties and without having been legally sanctioned for this act.

For these reasons, it declared them victims of human rights violations.
