On September 19, 1973, Alvaro Agustín SALCE ASCORRA, 48 years old, was killed. He was a resident of the United States, worked as a building manager, and was visiting Chile for family reasons.
That afternoon, he headed toward the home of a friend in the Plaza Italia area, but he never arrived. His family searched for him unsuccessfully until September 26, when they found his body at the Instituto Médico Legal.
He had been sent there by the Military Prosecutor's Office after being found on Avenida Bustamante. The autopsy report states the cause of death as: "thoracic gunshot wounds (3), with exit wounds."
Considering the cause of death and the date and location of the events, this Commission is convinced that Alvaro Agustín Salce was a victim of the actions of State agents using excessive force.
