Alberto Arnoldo Ampuero Angel, Daniel Germán Estrada Bustos, David Héctor González Venegas, and Enrique Alfonso Toledo Garay died from multiple gunshot wounds with exit wounds, as recorded in their respective Autopsy Reports, Medical Death Certificates, Death Certificates, and Medical Death Certificates from the Legal Medical Institute.
All of them were members of a group of "Boinas Negras" (Black Berets) from the Paratrooper and Special Forces School of Peldehue until 1970. That year, they were discharged along with a group of fellow soldiers due to, as was profusely published in the press at the time, the ties they maintained with Unidad Popular parties.
After that event, Alberto Ampuero, David González, and Enrique Toledo began working at the then-National Directorate of National Supply (DINAC), and Daniel Estrada worked as a private merchant.
All of them were detained in the days following September 11, 1973, and taken to the Ejército (Army) Special Forces Regiment in Peldehue, and subsequently executed by their former comrades-in-arms between 6:00 and 22:00 on September 15, 1973.
Alberto Ampuero and David González were detained on September 13 in the area known as Los Secos in the town of Colina. Later, their names appeared on lists of the deceased published at the Legal Medical Institute, where they were found by their relatives.
Daniel Estrada was detained around 9:00 on September 12 at the Hotel Real, in the commune of Estación Central, where he was staying. His relatives, after an intense search, also found his body at the Legal Medical Institute.
Enrique Toledo was detained around 13:00 on September 15, at his home located in Colina. His family searched for him intensely at the Paratrooper School, the Legal Medical Institute, and various detention centers without obtaining news about his whereabouts.
During 1991, through expert reports and fingerprint comparisons carried out in an investigation by the Third Criminal Court of Santiago in relation to the disappearance of other people, it was confirmed that Autopsy Protocol No. 2557/73, performed on a "male NN," corresponded to him, and that he had been buried under that status in Patio No. 29 of the General Cemetery of Santiago.
During the final months of 1973, six members of the aforementioned group of former paratroopers were detained under similar circumstances by their own former comrades-in-arms. All were taken to the facility maintained by the Ejército in Colina in the Peldehue sector, and their fate was invariably the same.
Mario Melo Pradenas, Javier Sobarzo Sepúlveda, and Luis Barraza Ruhl remain currently as forcibly disappeared, and Julio Martínez Lara is dead; their cases are recorded in the Report of the Comisión Nacional de Verdad y Reconciliación as victims of human rights violations.
Jorge Vicente Piérola Piérola remains as forcibly disappeared, and Ricardo Guillermo Pardo Tobar was also executed; their cases were classified as victims of human rights violations by this Corporation.
The rest of the group of former military personnel left the country via political asylum at the end of 1973.
Considering the background information gathered and the investigation carried out by this Corporation, the Superior Council reached the conviction that Alberto Arnoldo Ampuero Angel, Daniel Germán Estrada Bustos, David Héctor González Venegas, and Enrique Alfonso Toledo Garay, while in detention, were extrajudicially executed by State agents.
For this reason, it declared them victims of human rights violations.*
*Subsequent to the classification of this case, on March 27, 1993, the Twenty-Second Criminal Court of Santiago issued a resolution in the investigation it is conducting regarding illegal burial in Patio No. 29 of the General Cemetery, ratifying that Autopsy Protocol No. 2557/73, attributed to a "male NN," corresponded to Enrique Alfonso Toledo Garay; and ordered the death to be registered in his name and his remains to be handed over to his relatives.
